The Temples near our Guest House

The Nagamachi area is actually full of historical sites and two of them are just right near our Guest House Hot inn Sendai Nagamachi!

The first one is the Fukujuin (福聚院) just across the street from our reception and you can actually see it from the window of one of our best rooms!

The Fukujuin was founded back in 1496 and it was listed as one of the “New 100 Miyagi Tourist Attractions List”.
Is a small temple dedicated to “Hotei” (布袋), one of the Seven Lucky Gods (七福神, shichifukujin).
A real hidden gem just in front of our guest house!

The second one is the Dainenji, founded in 1697! Walking less than 15 minutes from our Guest House, you will find the entrance with the big portal. There are long stairs that goes up to the hill. Stamina and endurance are required to climb, them but it will be worth the sweat.

At the top of the hill, turn right and look around, you will find the tombs and graves of the Date Clan, the family of Date Masamune (伊達 政宗, September 5, 1567 – June 27, 1636), lord and founder of Sendai! An incredibly historically important site not only for the “City of Trees” but for all of Japan!
